about this policy

This privacy policy explains how Huginn Ventures (“Huginn Ventures”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the mapique iOS application.

Huginn Ventures is a business registered in British Columbia, Canada.

the information you add

mapique allows you to record and organize information about places you have visited or may want to visit. This information may include:

• countries;
• cities;
• places;
• geographic coordinates;
• comments and private guide content; and
• other information you choose to include in an export.

This content is entered by you. mapique does not request access to your device's current, precise, or background location. You can search for a location on the map or position a location manually.

where your travel data is stored

Your mapique content is stored locally on your device. When iCloud sync is available and enabled, a copy is stored in the iCloud Documents container associated with your Apple Account so that your data can remain synchronized between your compatible devices.

Huginn Ventures does not operate a server containing your countries, cities, places, coordinates, comments, or private guides, and we do not have an account system through which we can view this content.

Your use of iCloud is also governed by Apple's terms and privacy practices. The availability and security of iCloud are controlled by Apple and by the settings associated with your Apple Account.

private guides

Guides created in mapique are private. Publishing a guide inside the app changes its internal status or presentation for your own use; it does not make the guide public, submit it to Huginn Ventures, or make it visible to other mapique users.

mapique does not currently provide a public profile, social feed, shared-guide directory, or Apple share-sheet feature for guide content.

diagnostics and crash information

To identify errors and improve the stability of mapique, we collect limited technical and diagnostic information and store it in a database operated for Huginn Ventures.

This information may include:

• crash reports and crash alerts;
• application logs;
• device model;
• iOS version;
• mapique version;
• timestamps;
• technical error details;
• performance or stability information; and
• an automatically generated device or installation identifier.

We use this information only to investigate crashes, diagnose technical problems, maintain security, and produce more stable releases. We do not use it for advertising, behavioural profiling, or tracking you across apps or websites.

Diagnostic collection cannot currently be disabled from within mapique.

apple maps

mapique uses Apple Maps functionality to display maps, search for locations, resolve place information, and allow you to position map markers.

Map and place-search requests may be processed by Apple in accordance with Apple's terms and privacy practices. Huginn Ventures does not receive your Apple Account credentials from Apple Maps and does not use Apple Maps requests to create an advertising profile.

After you select or position a place, mapique may save the resulting place details and coordinates as part of your private mapique data.

accounts and identity

mapique does not require an account. We do not ask you to provide your name, email address, password, telephone number, or social-media account.

We do not receive your Apple Account identity merely because you use iCloud synchronization.

analytics and advertising

We do not use advertising SDKs, behavioural analytics, cross-app tracking, or third-party marketing profiles.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use your information for targeted advertising.

optional tips

mapique is free to use. You may optionally support its development through a one-time tip processed as an Apple in-app purchase.

Apple processes the payment and related billing information. Huginn Ventures does not receive your complete payment-card information. We may receive transaction and financial reports supplied by Apple, but we do not use them to identify or profile individual users.

exporting your data

You can export a backup of your mapique content in JSON format. The export may contain your countries, cities, places, coordinates, comments, guides, and related app data.

The exported file is created at your request and remains under your control. You are responsible for protecting any exported copy and deciding where it is stored.

deleting your data

mapique provides a Delete All Data option. Using it immediately deletes your mapique content from the app and removes the associated mapique data stored in the app's iCloud container.

Deleting or uninstalling the app does not necessarily delete data already stored in iCloud. To remove that data, use mapique's Delete All Data option before uninstalling, or manage the app's stored data through your Apple Account and iCloud settings.

Huginn Ventures does not retain a server backup of your mapique travel content. Copies you previously exported are not deleted automatically because they are stored in locations controlled by you.

Diagnostic records may remain for a limited period when needed to investigate technical issues, protect the service, comply with legal obligations, or maintain appropriate business records. They will be deleted or anonymized when no longer reasonably required for those purposes.

when information may be disclosed

We may disclose limited diagnostic information to service providers that host or support our diagnostic systems, but only where reasonably necessary for them to provide those services to us.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful legal process, protect the rights or safety of users or others, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a business reorganization subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

We do not disclose your private mapique travel content because that content is not stored on servers operated by Huginn Ventures.

international processing

mapique is available internationally. Apple and the service providers supporting our diagnostic systems may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

Privacy and data-protection laws may differ between jurisdictions. Where required, we use reasonable contractual, organizational, and technical measures to protect information processed on our behalf.

security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against accidental loss, unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should protect access to your device, Apple Account, iCloud account, and exported backups.

retention

Your local and iCloud mapique content remains until you delete it, modify it, or remove it through the relevant app or iCloud controls.

We retain diagnostic information only for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate technical problems, improve reliability, protect mapique, and meet applicable legal requirements. We may retain anonymized information that can no longer reasonably identify a device or individual.

children

mapique is a general-audience application and is not designed specifically for children. It does not require users to provide their name, age, or contact information.

A parent or guardian who believes that a child has submitted personal information to our diagnostic systems may contact us to request that we review and, where applicable, delete it.

your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information handled by Huginn Ventures, including the right to request access, correction, or deletion, or to withdraw consent where applicable.

Because mapique does not use user accounts and diagnostic records may not identify you by name, we may need information from you to locate a relevant record. In some cases, we may be unable to associate a diagnostic record with a particular person.

changes to this policy

We may update this policy when mapique changes or when required by law. The effective date at the top of the policy identifies the latest version.

Material changes may also be communicated through the app, its App Store listing, or another appropriate notice.
